Colds and flu

Help! How do we avoid colds and flu? Poor Clare has been in bed for the week suffering from very high temperatures and earaches! Time and bed rest I suppose with the aid of antibiotics and paracetamol is the only solution but will she be able to travel to France on Monday????????
